Project Overview:

As UX  Designer and Product Designer, I led a comprehensive redesign of Serket Tech’s AI-powered mobile app—focused on pig behavior monitoring and livestock health. I aligned the app’s UX to both user needs and Serket’s business model, translating complex machine-vision insights into clear, actionable mobile experiences optimized for Android and iOS.

Problem
  • Usability Issues: The app had a cluttered interface and inconsistent design, making it difficult for users to navigate.

  • Inconsistent Design: The app’s visual elements were not cohesive, leading to confusion and frustration for users.

  • Low Engagement: Despite its potential, user engagement was low due to difficult navigation and lack of intuitiveness.

Research & Strategic Insights
  • User Segmentation & Journey Prioritization: Conducted interviews and analytics deep-dive to segment farmers, farm staff, and managers; prioritized workflows that delivered highest operational value.

  • Competitor Benchmarking & Opportunity Mapping: Evaluated agTech apps to spot UX patterns and identify gaps in accessibility, efficiency, and trust.

Product Definition & UX Planning
  • Feature Scoping & Roadmap Alignment: Led cross-functional workshops to define feature requirements, map dependencies, and prioritize based on farmer needs and technical feasibility.

  • Personas & Journey Design: Developed personas and journey maps to visualize user goals, pain points, and device usage contexts—informing every design decision.

Design & Prototyping
  • Wireframes & Prototype Validation: Crafted simplified task flows and mid-fi prototypes to validate navigation and in-app workflows through iterative testing with target users.

  • Mobile-First UI & System Building: Built a responsive component library in Figma using Material Design principles—covering typography, color, gesture-driven interactions, and accessibility.

Developer Handoff & Implementation

  • Requirement Documentation: Produced annotated design specs detailing states, error handling, accessibility considerations, and AI data behaviors.

  • Cross-Functional Enablement: Maintained tight collaboration with product and engineering via standups, design reviews, and Loom walkthroughs—streamlining handoff and ensuring alignment.

Impact & Metrics
  • The redesigned mobile app bridged the gap between Serket’s AI technology and the day-to-day needs of field users. By redefining workflows and restructuring navigation around high-frequency tasks, the app reduced time-to-task completion by an estimated 40%. Error reports related to navigation dropped by 60% within the first two months of rollout. Additionally, simplifying the AI output display increased comprehension and usability for first-time users, based on post-launch interviews and support logs.

  • The introduction of contextual onboarding, role-specific flows, and offline-friendly interaction patterns also led to a 25% increase in daily active users and a 30% uptick in task completion rates across key workflows. Design and engineering teams reported smoother implementation cycles thanks to improved specs and reusable Figma components, cutting dev time on new mobile features by 20%.

Results:
  • +25% increase in daily active users within 60 days post-launch

  • +30% improvement in task completion rates for image labeling and behavior tagging workflows

  • –60% reduction in user-reported navigation issues

  • 20% faster development cycles due to systematized UI components and better documentation

  • Improved user confidence through redesigned AI data visuals and consistent, plain-language UI

  • Stronger stakeholder alignment through early strategic planning, resulting in more efficient decision-making across product, design, and engineering teams
