Overview

This project focused on creating, updating, and maintaining a comprehensive design system to ensure visual and functional consistency across multiple web and mobile applications. The goal was to streamline the design process, enhance efficiency, and facilitate clear communication between design and development teams.

Objectives
  • Establish a scalable, flexible, and easily maintainable design system

Pain Points

The previous system was outdated, failing to meet modern UX/UI standards.

  • UI elements were overly large and took up excessive screen space, negatively impacting usability.

  • The design system did not adequately accommodate heavy amounts of data, leading to cluttered interfaces and compromised user experiences.

  • Lack of scalability hindered the ability to adapt to new project requirements efficiently.

My Role

As the lead UX/UI designer, my responsibilities included:

Design System Management
  • Developed and maintained comprehensive design documentation, including detailed guidelines for color schemes, typography, spacing, iconography, and interactive components.

  • Implemented Figma variables to efficiently manage and rapidly update design assets, ensuring alignment with evolving project requirements and enhancing overall productivity.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Regularly collaborated with development teams to ensure seamless integration, accurate execution of design specifications, and resolving any technical constraints.

  • Annotated designs and performed detailed redlining to facilitate clear and precise developer handoff.

 
Quality Assurance & Optimization
  • Conducted routine audits, usability testing, and feedback sessions to continuously refine and enhance the design system.

  • Ensured scalability and adaptability of the design system across multiple platforms, including desktop web applications, mobile apps, and responsive designs.

 
Training & Advocacy
  • Provided education and training to team members on utilizing the design system effectively, promoting consistency and best practices throughout the organization.

  • Actively researched industry standards and emerging trends, integrating relevant insights to stay ahead of market trends.
